Jan de Vries is the Global Head of the Autoimmunity & Transplantation Disease Area at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.
 

Prior to joining Novartis, Jan was Director of the Immunology Department of DNAX Research Institute for Molecular and Cellular Biology in Palo Alto, US. He has also served as co-director of the Schering-Plough Institute for Immunological Research, and was Chairman of the Department of Immunology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Jan has a long-standing interest in T cell activation and has made seminal contributions to the field of cytokine research and to the understanding of the regulatory processes leading to allergy and tolerance. He has published more than 300 papers in multiple international scientific journals.
